B-SIDE EMPIRE was co-founded by the following lovely people:

JENNYTHA (co-founder/director)

Jennytha (though known as Jenn because she was sick of people saying too many different variations of her name) is shorter than Verity. She is Sri Lankan by heritage, but was born and raised in England until the age of 10, when she moved to Beijing and where she still lives… but she doesn’t really consider herself from anywhere. Homeless perhaps? At the moment she is in her final year at the University of Warwick studying Film with Television Studies and doesn’t know where she’ll be next year – half the time she doesn’t know where she’ll be tomorrow. Jenn often wishes she was a famous musician in a fucking amazing band, but is actually quite terrible at music even though she likes to think she can play loads of instruments. She wouldn’t get very far anyway as she has been self-diagnosed with level three stage fright. Other than her lack of musical talent, she leans on photography and caffeine to satisfy her needs… and obviously B-Side Empire, which works out well because she’s a bit of a workaholic.

VERITY (co-founder/director)

I used to make things up as I went along, but being at University (and, perhaps, just generally getting older) has made me realise I need to plan things a little more. So now I’m in an inbetweeny stage where I make a plan, but end up making it up as I go along. Its a start! I’ve almost finished my BA in Film and Literature, and one thing I’ve learned is that I like fantasy best, as a genre. Fantasy films, gothic novels, anything with some sort of spooky other twin world.. although I’m not averse to a bit of New Wavey realism. Y’know, Mr Finney, Karel Reisz… the Wednesday Plays… I get all that. But its not half as fun as Mirrormask is it now? In my spare time I daydream and write things down. When I was 17 I realised there were plenty of ways to meet bands without being in one yourself, and decided to put a gig on. I caught a bug, and its that which gets me pumped about B-Side Empire. It’s exciting to make things happen… especially if somewhere along the line there’s a free party!
